Exciting news for the rendering community! Chaos has just released Corona 12, the latest version of its powerful renderer for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D. This update is packed with new features and improvements that are sure to enhance your workflow and creative possibilities.

1. What’s New in Corona 12?

Integration with Chaos Vantage

One of the most anticipated features in Corona 12 is its initial integration with Chaos Vantage, Chaos’s GPU-based real-time ray tracing renderer. This allows you to export scenes to Vantage for rendering, making it easier to explore large production scenes. While a live link is not yet available (expected in Corona 13 later this year), you can still use this feature for scouting scenes and rendering stills, as well as creating short animations directly in Vantage.

2. Revamped Virtual Frame Buffer (VFB 2.0)

The new VFB 2.0 brings a host of enhancements, including the ability to save multiple LightMix setups within a single render, compare images with different resolutions and aspect ratios, and directly edit Corona EXR (.cxr) files. Additionally, the Corona Sky system now features a Density parameter to control cloud density, giving you more control over your scenes.

3. Enhanced Features and Tools

Curved Decals: Apply decal images to curved surfaces, such as labeling a bottle, for more realistic texturing.

Corona Pattern Modifier: Now allows geometric objects to define the shape of the crop box, offering more flexibility in your designs.

Cryptomatte Render Element: Now compatible with distributed rendering, including Cinema 4D’s Team Render and Resume Render.

Pricing and Availability

Corona 12 is available via subscription and is compatible with 3ds Max 2016+ and Cinema 4D R17+. Here are the pricing details:

      • Corona Solo Subscription: $59.90/month or $394.80/year (node-locked, includes access to Chaos Cosmos).
